2009 Dirt Action Amcross - Northern NSW Series.

Everyone riding Amcross has to provide a volunteer for one of 3 volunteer duties over the day.  This year at Grafton we are rewarding those who get their entries in first.   The first 18 entries get the first volunteer period, the next   18 get the 2nd and then the next 18 get the third.  Last and late entries will get whatever is left over. .... so get your entries in early.

Remember, don't resind your volunteer duty. Amcross is grass roots and everyone must have a volunteer and every volunteer is given a job.  each day at Grafton alone, we need 39 flag marshalls, 6 canteen volunteers, 9 lap scorers, 3 sign on ladies/men, and 3 starters and that is without the actual licensed officials.  What did that come to 54....before we looked at the club elected positions and the officials.  In the real world (not that that is related to what we experience in the NC Series)  it is normal for every rider to provide a volunteer and that is regardless of multiple rider families.  Paul and I have done every Amcross South round since Grafton was involved and when we had 3 kids we do 3 jobs, now we have 2, we do 2 and apart from this little area on the north coast this is the norm.  Even Peter Dow, no 2 on the MNSW board, the man where it comes to amcross and his son Paul do duty on behalf of 3 riders, two boys and their Dad Paul at Amcross.  Remember, that the NC Series looks after us too well in a pay out option and we must understand that this is not the norm.  If you don't have a rep for each rider,  your rider will be pulled off the grid at any open or amcross event in NSW.  NC Series is an exceptional series that does not reflect what is on offer anywhere in our state.  Riding in our State is the only way to get StateTitle qualification and valuable grading points on the overall result.

OUR CLUBS ARE STRUGGLING AND WE SHOULD NOT OBJECT TO HELPING.  Flagging keeps our riders safe and nobody does it better than those who have riders out there themselves.  We should not complain about the way volunteers do their job unless we are prepared to do the job ourselves and that it what it is coming down to.  Many officials who volunteer their time are just that volunteers and they do not deserve our criticism, they deserve our help.  Everyone can help in some way, even if it is only to wave a flag or drop the start gate or help at sign on, lap score or man the canteen.  Think about it.
